Carrie works at a diner in South Philadelphia, dispensing advice to humans and angels wise enough to seek her counsel. But there are some problems that even the best advice can’t solve.

Her latest supplicant, Sebastian, is unique among those who have sought her aid. He sold his soul to a demon in exchange for his sister’s life, but his heart remains pure.

Carrie has lived for millennia with the knowledge that her immortality is due to the suffering of others, and she cannot bear to see another good man damned when it is within her power to prevent it.

In order to renegotiate his contract, Carrie must travel into the depths of hell and parley with the demons that control its pathways. As the cost of her journey rises, Carrie must determine how much she is willing to sacrifice to save one good soul.

Interview:

Kari& Autumn: What inspired you to become a writer?

Elizabeth: I’ve been a big reader for my entire life, and I’ve always admired the authors whose works captured my attention. But at the same time, I was always coming up with stories of my own that I planned to turn into books. And when I was faced with a bout of insomnia that left me with extra time to write on my hands, I decided to go ahead and try to be an author.

Kari& Autumn: Where do you come up with the ideas for your books?

Elizabeth: I come up with my ideas from a variety of places, but the two biggest influences are probably other fiction and dreams. I got the idea for Oracle of Philadelphia from watching the television show Supernatural, and the next series I plan to write comes from a combination of a dream I had and my attempts to make a completely unique world.

Kari& Autumn: What exciting projects are waiting in the wings?

Elizabeth: I plan to have seven books in the Earthbound Angels series, so that should keep me busy for quite a while. But I have some other ideas that I hope will someday see the light of day—a dystopian detective series, a young adult zombie story, and maybe a high fantasy or two.

Kari& Autumn: Who is your favorite literary character and why?

Elizabeth: I think my favorite character is Susan Sto Helit from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series. She handles everything that comes up with a no-nonsense attitude, and she can speak in capital letters.

Kari& Autumn: Just for fun, if you could be any animal, what would it be and why?

Elizabeth: I think anyone who has ever had a pet cat wishes she could be a housecat. I mean, they pretty much just sit around and sleep all day, with periodic breaks for adoration from their humans. But I specifically would like to be my cat Jadey. She walks through life with the absolute confidence that she is the most important being in the world, and any time she meets with evidence that she is not, she simply disregards it. If I could have this kind of attitude, my life would be so much easier.
