It happens each winter, and has for over 35 years. Every time the snow starts to fall late in the evening before a school day, the dreams begin again for Billy Stone. They are always the same – there’s a dark tunnel, and there’s blood, lots of blood, and someone is screaming.
Snow Day is a very spooky novella. I wasn't sure what to expect going into the story. I was sucked right in and loved it! In the afterword, the author talks about how the story was inspired by campfire stories. This one would be perfect for a night around the fire.
Billy tells the story of one snow day when he was 10 and how it changed his life forever. Things were so different back then. "Don't leave the block" was all his mother ever told him. For a 10 year old boy, that left a lot of wiggle room for finding trouble. After finding a body in the basement of a neighborhood house, he finds himself in a fight for his life. I won't go any further because it's a story that will surprise you. I didn't expect the ending that I got! I definitely recommend this short story. Read it on a cold winter night and see if you don't get spooked like I did!
