My job is to protect.
I'm the best, the king's elite.
She's the only thing that could ever distract me.
Logan Hunt is a guard. He's constantly aware of his surroundings, knowing every angle. He's intense, dedicated and focused. He'll take a bullet.
His new assignment is to protect the queen regent, keep his eyes on her at all times. He's more than up to the task.
Until a face from his past returns, and the mission he's sworn to complete becomes his biggest liability.
Dirty Dealers is a spin-off from the Dirty Players Duet. It involves Logan Hunt who is seen in the series. He wants to resign and get out of the King's service, but a threat to the Queen means he has to stay in a little longer. A blast from his past ends up making things a little more complicated.
I wanted to love this story. I love second chance romance. While I liked it, I didn't love it either. It ended up being just OK for me. I did like Cassandra. Her disability made her a unique character. She was strong and resilient despite it. I also did like Logan. I thought they were cute together and was rooting for them.
What I didn't like was the rest of the story. I didn't think this book stood up well as a stand alone book. I kept feeling like I was missing too much back story. Not having read the previous duet, I didn't really get the motivation behind Blitz wanting Ava dead. The story is told in alternating points of view, which I don't normally mind. But, often the scene I just read would be replayed out through the other person't POV. It made the book drag for me having to re-read scenes.
It's on sale today, so give it a try.
