Review: Driven to Distraction by Lori Foster

Author: Lori Foster
Publisher: Harlequin
Date of publication: November 20, 2018

Mary Daniels doesn’t let anything get in the way of her job acquiring rare artifacts for her wealthy boss. But this particular obstacle—huge, hard-muscled, unashamedly masculine—is impossible to ignore. Stuck in a cramped car with Brodie Crews for hours en route to their new assignment, Mary feels her carefully crafted persona—and her trademark self-control—is slipping, and she won’t allow it.

Brodie can’t imagine what secret in Mary’s past has left her so buttoned-up, though he’d dearly love to find out. Maybe then she’d trust him enough to explore their explosive chemistry. But he needs this job, so he’ll play by her rules and bide his time…until an enemy determined to outwit them strikes and he needs to get close—in every way—to protect her. Otherwise they could lose much more than a precious collectible. They could lose it all.

Driven to Distraction is the first in an exciting new series by Ms.Foster.  This one finds Mary Daniels reluctantly working with Brodie Crews.  He isn't exactly what Mary was expecting when her boss picked a new driver for his business.  They have to pair up to acquire strange and eccentric artifacts for his unusual collection.  Simple, right? If you know this author, you know that it isn't always that simple.

I loved this latest offering. I know when I read a Lori Foster book, I am certain to find a new book boyfriend.  My list from her books alone is long.  Brodie has now taken place on that list.  I loved him.  He seemed kind of like a mess at first glance, but he ended up being a caring, protective and heart-melting guy.  He was my favorite. I had a harder time warming up to Mary. She was pretty uptight and I didn't care for the way she treated Brodie at first.  However, once I began to learn more about her background, I warmed up to her.  I was rooting for her to open up her heart to love and find her family.  They ended up being perfect for each other.

The other characters rounded out the book nicely.  I loved Brodie's family, especially his mother.  She was great.  Can I just mention Brodie's relationship with Howler.  I swear my heart melted very time he fed the dog.  The ritual was too cute.  There is a bit of a mystery and some action to add to the story.  But the romance was the best part of it.  I definitely recommend this one when it comes out later this  month.  Make sure to check it out!
