Follow Friday

Parajunkee asks what our favorite brick and mortar book store is.  Lately I've most often been going to Borders at Mall of Louisiana because I get really good coupons from them.  After that I go to Books A Million, both locations in Baton Rouge.  I've been trying to throw some business to an indie bookstore I found recently called Cavalier House Books in Denham Springs, LA.  It's a little out of my way though and I tend to get much better prices at Borders and Books a Million, but Cavalier House does buy and sell used books.

This week's feature at Follow Friday is Candace's Book Blog...go check it out!

Candace's Book Blog
Book Blogger Hop

The Blog Hop question of the week is:  Do you judge a book by its cover?  Yes, yes I do.  If it's a poorly done cover, I have to believe the book is poorly done as well too.  If you aren't going to put any effort into the cover, how much effort did you put into the contents?

  12. Stopping by via the hop...I think it depends - there's a place and time when book covers come into play as to whether I will read the book.

    Happy Friday!

  13. hopping through. I think you make a good point... but I wonder how much influence the author has on a cover? Is it up to the publisher or the publisher's marketing people? I have no idea. But yeah, I choose a lot of books on their covers alone.

  18. Hi! New follower from the hop! I too judge books by the cover, although I will say that as a published author who has worked with a couple of different publishing houses, sometimes the author has absolutely no control over what their cover will be. I have seen author's with great stories and horrid book covers that even they hated, but could do nothing about! Shame on those publishers I say! Hope you have a great day!

  21. hi, just started following your blog thanks to the blog hop.

After being to a couple of book signings, I know that authors don't have any way in the cover of thier book, but it makes you wonder if the publisher doesn't even care about the cover, why did they bother agreeing to publish the book?

  23. Thank you for visitng my blog. I'm glad you like it! :)
It can be so annoying when the US version cover) is better than the UK version or vice versa (Australia gets them both).

I read your 'About Me' section. Haha, parking is always a horror!

  25. Visiting from the hop! I agree with you. Covers are a big part of a book. If I'm browsing for books at a store, the cover is the first thing that pops out at me. But if I hear about a book online or through word of mouth and it sounds intriguing, then I don't care so much about the cover.
