No One Knows by J.T. Ellison

Author: J.T. Ellison
Publisher: Gallery Books
Date of publication: March 2016

The day Aubrey Hamilton’s husband is declared dead by the state of Tennessee should bring closure so she can move on with her life. But Aubrey doesn’t want to move on; she wants Josh back.

It’s been five years since he disappeared, since their blissfully happy marriage—they were happy, weren’t they?—screeched to a halt and Aubrey became the prime suspect in his disappearance. Five years of emptiness, solitude, loneliness, questions. Why didn’t Josh show up at his friend’s bachelor party? Was he murdered? Did he run away? And now, all this time later, who is the mysterious yet strangely familiar figure suddenly haunting her new life?

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed No One Knows.    The story opens with Aubrey's husband being declared dead after having been missing for five years.  Nobody knows what happened to Josh.  Some were convinced Aubrey killed him, but she was acquitted of the crime.  Even though she longs to know what happened, Aubrey is accepting that she must finally move on and try to stop seeing him everywhere.

It's a hard book to review without giving away plot details.  The story is filled with a lot of twists.  I did call one of them, but there is a big one toward the end that took me by surprise.  The plot was doled out with perfect precision through multiple perspectives between present day and in flashbacks.  I never felt like there was a lull in the story and was eager to find out what was going on.  The characters were interesting and well fleshed out.  The flashbacks provided a lot of details so that the reader gets to know them and their motivations pretty thoroughly.

I ended up listening to the audio-book and loved both of the narrators.  If you are looking for a good thriller, I highly recommend this one.
