Review: A Hard Day for a Hangover by Darynda Jones

Author: Darynda Jones
Publisher: St. Martin's Press
Publication date: December 2022

Some people greet the day with open arms. Sheriff Sunshine Vicram would rather give it a hearty shove and get back into bed, because there’s just too much going on right now. There’s a series of women going missing, and Sunny feels powerless to stop it. There’s her persistent and awesomely-rebellious daughter Auri, who’s out to singlehandedly become Del Sol’s youngest and fiercest investigator. And then there’s drama with Levi Ravinder—the guy she’s loved and lusted after for years. The guy who might just be her one and only. The guy who comes from a family of disingenuous vipers looking to oust him—and Sunshine—for good.

Like we said, the new day can take a hike.

A Hard Day for a Hangover is the third and apparently final book in the Sunshine Vicram trilogy.  I have no idea this was a trilogy and I was sad to hear that it was.  This series is a favorite of mine. If you haven't read the first two books, don't start with this one.  It spoils a lot of things from the first two books.

I don't want to give away too much.  I'll just say I really really enjoyed this one.  It had the same humor and snarkiness that I have been loving.  I love the relationships that Sunshine has with her daughter, parents and co-workers.  There were a lot of scenes that had me on the edge of my seat.  This final book is a great wrap up to the events that have been happening over the entire trilogy.  If it is really the last one, I am satisfied with how it ended.  I definitely recommend this one as well as the series.
