Blog Tour: The Hexed by Heather Graham

Author: Heather Graham
Publisher: Harlequin (Mira)
Date of publication: July 2014

Devin Lyle has recently returned to the Salem area, but her timing couldn’t be worse. Soon after she moved into the eighteenth-century cabin she inherited from her great-aunt Mina—her “crazy” great-aunt, who spoke to the dead—a woman was murdered nearby.

Craig Rockwell—known as Rocky—is a new member of the Krewe of Hunters, the FBI’s team of paranormal investigators. He never got over finding a friend dead in the woods. Now another body’s been found in those same woods, not far from the home of Devin Lyle. And Devin’s been led to a third body—by…a ghost?

Her discovery draws them both deeper into the case and Salem’s rich and disturbing history. Even as the danger mounts, Devin and Rocky begin to fall for each other, something the ghosts of Mina and past witches seem to approve of. But the two of them need every skill they possess to learn the truth—or Devin’s might be the next body in the woods….

The Hexed is another great addition to the Krewe of Hunters Series.  I especially liked this one because it takes place very close to home... Salem, Massachusetts.  Being familiar with the area always makes for a great read.  Ms. Graham definitely does her research because I felt like she knew the area and described it perfectly.

This time around, "Rocky" is back on his home turf after reading about the murder of a woman who was killed in a very similar way that a friend was murdered 13 years before.  He is convinced there is a serial killer who is back at it.  He joins the Krewe and sets out to see what is going on.  Devin is a local author who can also see the dead and is quickly caught up in the mystery when she discovers a third body in her woods.  The romance between the two was pretty subtle but I liked both of them together.  Their hooking up seemed natural, so I liked that part of the book.  I loved how Auntie Mina kept trying to get them together.

I also liked the mystery.  I didn't call the killer until the reveal.  I was going in a completely different direction. It was also great to see some of the old Krewe members involved in the case.  As with most of this series, you can read this one as a stand alone, so if you start here, don't worry.  But, why not go back and read them all?
