Attorney Ashton Vance is the one that got away. When an embarrassing Photoshopped picture of put an end to his political aspirations, he blamed Jenna. So what if the photo led to his being offered a dream job and changing his life for the better? Jenna betrayed his trust, and two years later, Ashton’s heart still hasn’t recovered.
It was me. His younger sister’s three words turn Ashton’s world upside down. He must ask Jenna’s forgiveness, but can he risk his heart a second time? Even if Jenna can forgive him, dare he hope for a second chance at her love?
Have you ever heard the saying: "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me?" That is how I felt at the end of this novella. You'll see why in a minute. Jenna is a photographer who has spent the last two years. putting her life back together after being left at the alter. Her former fiance accused her of something she didn't do and called it off. Now he is on her door step asking her for a big favor and finally apologizing for accusing her.
I struggled with this story because I genuinely liked Jenna. I am also a sucker for second chance love. I was behind Jenna and Ash finding their way back to each other and falling in love again. I felt like both had made big changes in their lives and were coming back to the table with a new perspective. However, relationships are about trust and faith and when Ash betrays Jenna's trust again, I personally had a hard time getting behind them. The way Ash was so quick to not believe her again made me question his growth. I understand forgiveness and did applaud Jenna for finding it in her heart to forgive again, but I would have been reluctant to tell her to trust again.
So for the most part, I did like this story. It is a sweet second chance love story. I just couldn't get behind them for a third time.
