Shallow Graves ended up being a different book than I was expecting. I liked the premise and thought it was a good and new take on revenants and monsters. Breezy wakes up in a shallow grave and immediately kills the man who dug her up. She finds out she has been dead for a year and can now sense when someone is a murderer. She also has the ability to take their life. As I said, this was a cool premise. I liked Breezy and I liked that her murder was a mystery throughout the book. It definitely wasn't anything I was expecting.
The rest of the story with Mother and the monsters was intriguing. I liked the world that the author began to create. However, I am kind of hoping this is the first book in a series. I felt like in the end I was still left with a lot of unanswered questions that I would hope a next book would answer. I think Breezy still had a lot of them as well.
I think any YA over 16 would enjoy this book. It is a good creepy mystery that I do recommend checking out.
