Lone Star Nights is the second book in the McCord Brothers series. Lucky has a reputation for loving them and leaving them. But, he has become very successful as a rodeo promoter with his business partner, Dixie Mae. When she dies, he finds out that promising to fulfill her last wish will be more complicated than he thought. Cassie is Dixie Mae's granddaughter and learns she is also about to have her world turned around.

While I enjoyed this one, I can't say I loved it. It wasn't my favorite out the two I have read in the series. I did like Cassie and Lucky together, but I felt like the romance was all a bit too fast for me. The story only takes place over a couple of weeks, so I think it was the time line that prevented me from buying into it. As for the kids, I really didn't feel like I have a good sense of Cassie and Lucky interacting with them enough for me to buy into them becoming a happy family. I needed more scenes with them all together.

Having said that, the ending was perfect, especially the "surprises" in the will. I loved that Cassie's father got what he deserved! That was priceless! Logan's story comes out later in the year. I look forward to reading him find his love.
