The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith

Four minutes changes everything. Hadley Sullivan 17 misses her flight at JFK airport, is late to her father's second wedding in London with never-met stepmother. Hadley meets the perfect boy. Oliver is British, sits in her row. A long night on the plane passes in a blink, but the two lose track in arrival chaos. Can fate bring them together again?

I've been wanting to read this book simply because of the title, but I can only take YA romances in small doses.  Then, this book was on my daughter's summer reading list, so I decided to finally check it out.

Basically Hadley and Oliver meet on a flight from JFK to London.  They instantly connect and pretty much fall in love at first sight.  I found all this to be fairly improbably because kids never talk to each other.  They're always on head phones and never really aware of what's going on around them.  However, if you can suspend disbelief and finish out the story it was a good story.  I don't exactly know why it would make a high school summer reading list other than it might be something the kids would want to read.  I didn't find it to be a major literary bombshell or highly educational in anyway.

The Statistical Probabilility of Love at First Sight was a cute, easy read.  Contemporary YA readers will most likely enjoy this story.
