Blog Tour: Review & Excerpt from Serial Burn by Lynette Eason

SERIAL BURN

by Lynette Eason

February 10 - March 7, 2025 Virtual Book Tour

Synopsis:

cover

LAKE CITY HEROES

She's out for justice. But the arsonist she's tracking is out for retribution.

Now the fire marshal of Lake City, Jesslyn McCormick is determined to find the person who started the fire that robbed her of her family when she was just seven years old. As the twentieth anniversary of the tragedy approaches, a string of fires--including at Jesslyn's church--brings up all those old feelings and offers new evidence.

Because church fires are considered a hate crime, FBI Special Agent Nathan Carlisle is called in to work with local law enforcement. Nathan has his own past--one he'd prefer not to revisit. And focusing on helping Jesslyn track down the arsonist is a great distraction.

As both the case and the chemistry between Jesslyn and Nathan heat up, memories will come flooding in from the past to bump up against hopes for the future. And when Jesslyn comes face-to-face with her worst nightmare, she'll have to confront her fears and rely on Nathan and her community of friends in order to survive.

Praise for Serial Burn:

"Eason resumes her Lake City Heroes series with a propulsive game of cat and mouse between a fire marshal and an arsonist who's eerily familiar with her past. . . .The result is a thrill ride worth taking."

My thoughts:

Serial Burn is the third book in the Lost City Heroes series.  In this one, someone is causing fires in buildings that seem to be connected to Fire Chief Jesslyn. She is convinced it has to do with the mysterious fire that killed her family when she was younger.  FBI agent Nathan Carlisle has his own history with fire and is determined to help Jesslyn solve the case.  I have been enjoying this series so far as well as this installment.  The msytery definitely kept me guessing and I enjoyed solving it along with the couple.  I also thought the romance was sweet and subtle.  One of my favorite parts was the reconciliation with Nathan and his brother.  It was heartbreaking yet hopeful.  I highly recommend this one.

Review: Following the Trail by Lynette Eason

Author: Lynette Eason
Publisher: Love Inspired (Harlequin)
Publication Date: January 2022

Tracking leads in her sister’s disappearance
could make a K-9 handler the next victim.

Lacey Jefferson’s search for her missing sister quickly turns into a murder investigation—thrusting Lacey and her search-and-rescue K-9, Scarlett, into a killer’s sights. Now teaming up with her ex-boyfriend, Sheriff Creed Payne, is the only way to discover the murderer’s identity. But can they survive long enough to dig up the truth?

Following the Trail is the 5th book in the K-9 Search and rescue series.  Once again this works fine as a stand alone book. So you can jump right in without reading the first 4 books.  I like to read these romantic suspense from this publisher because they are fairly quick reads with good mysteries and sweet romances.

This one follows Lacey and her rescue dog Scarlet.   Scarlet is one of my favorite dogs in this series so far.  Lacey is searching for her missing sister only to be pulled into a harrowing murder mystery .  One that she must solve with the help of her ex-boyfriend, Creed.  The msytery was really good.  I was hooked from the beginning and was kept guessing.  More than that, though I loved the second chance romance between Lacey and Creed.  It ended up being really sweet once they were honest and worked through their past issues. I highly recommend this one.

Blog Tour: Review of Justice Mission by Lynnette Eason

Author: Lynette Eason
Publisher:  Love Inspired Suspense
Date of publication: April 2, 2019

Introducing the True Blue K-9 Unit series

After K-9 unit administrative assistant Sophie Walters spots a suspicious stranger lurking at the K-9 graduation, the man kidnaps her—and she barely escapes. With Sophie’s boss missing and someone determined to silence her, NYPD officer Luke Hathaway vows he and his K-9 partner will guard her. But he must keep an emotional distance to ensure this mission ends in justice…not cold-blooded murder.

My thoughts:

Justice Mission is the first in a new Love Inspired Suspense series.  It introduces the K-9 Unit.  I'm a sucker for police dog stories, so I eagerly dove in.  The book is a quick and fast paced read. The nice thing about these books is that they can be read in one or two sittings. For the most part, I enjoyed it.  My only complaint is that the ending left some things unresolved.  I think it will be an overall arc over the series, if I understand correctly.  I liked the characters and the romance.  Sophie and Luke's romance was sweet.  If you are looking for a quick clean romantic suspense book, I do recommend this one.
