My thoughts:

He Loves Me Knot is the latest stand alone from RC Boldt.  It is also among my favorite books of hers that I have read so far.  This is Knox and Emma Jane's second chance story.  What can I say about this book other than it is sweet, fun and a must read for second chance romance lovers?  From the first page, I was quickly drawn into their story and stayed up really late to finish.  But it was worth it.

Emma Jane ran away from her wedding eight years before.  She has been able to hide from her past until now...Knox is her new boss.  Knox never got over the girl that broke his heart.  As I said, I loved their story.  We are treated to flashbacks showing how the couple met and what went wrong.  Let this be a lesson...communication is key!  I was really rooting for these two to work out their unfinished business and get a second chance.    I highly recommend this one.  I was excited to see Becket is getting his own story next year.  I can't wait to read it.

Barely a minute passes before the din of light conversation ebbs to complete silence when a man enters the room and heads straight for the opposite end of the table. I can only see the back of him as he takes long, powerful strides, one hand grasping a thick binder. Something seems so familiar about him... My eyes track his movements, and my forehead creases as I try to place him.
His suit is well tailored and it’s evident the man works out because even beneath the black pinstriped dress pants, his backside is firm, the fabric doing nothing to mask his powerful, muscled thighs. When he moves to set the binder down, his suit jacket shifts and hints at a firm, flat stomach beneath the button-down shirt. My appraisal continues down to his hands when he draws one hand back from the binder.
An odd sensation overtakes me, and a rousing awareness crackles within the air, causing me to immediately grow still.
Then he turns, fully facing everyone in the room, and it’s in this moment my breath is completely robbed from me.
As if in shock, my mind refuses to operate on all cylinders, acting sluggish. I continue to take in the sight before me, cataloguing my observations. The square jawline that used to remain clean-shaven now has a short, neatly trimmed beard of the same dark shade of brown as his hair. My eyes skim over the straight nose that has the faintest bump on the bridge from the time when he was five and fel—
Sweet Lord, no.
As the man’s identity dawns on me, my eyes flicker over my coworkers seated around the large table before I return my panicked gaze to the individual who’s garnering attention with his commanding presence.
He surveys everyone in attendance and those piercing green eyes, framed by dark lashes, scan each person and slowly travel around the table. My heart skips a beat when his eyes lands on me. If I weren’t scrutinizing so intently, I wouldn’t have caught the slight pause, the faint shift in depth of his gaze, as it grows frigid before he continues his perusal of the remainder of the staff members.
My throat grows dry and I immediately wish I’d brought my water bottle along. A stick of gum, even. Anything.
I should’ve known better than to think my past wouldn’t catch up to me at some point.
In my case, however, it seems my past is the new owner of my place of employment.
Knox Montgomery. The man I left at the altar.

Out of the Ashes by RC Boldt

Author; RC Boldt
Publisher:  RC Boldt Publishing, LLC
Date of publication: May 2017

Phoenix /fēniks/: (in classical mythology) a unique bird inhabiting the Arabian Desert that burned itself on a funeral pyre before rising from the ashes with renewed youth to live through another cycle.

This isn’t mythology, it’s war, and Hendy is left in the hands of Hell’s cruelest gatekeepers.

His team is killed before his very eyes, and despite his efforts to save them, he’s captured and subjected to merciless torture—losing virtually every piece of his identity but his pulse.

After his rescue, he returns home from Afghanistan, saddled with facing the daunting task of healing his physical scars as well as the invisible ones—his emotional demons.

Dr. Presley Cole isn’t one to shy away from a challenge. Embarking on a new journey, she makes it her mission to prove to Hendy that his life isn’t over; that he’s worthy of love.

Because sometimes even a phoenix needs help to rise…

Out of the Ashes.

Out of the Ashes is the second book in a spin-off of  the Teach Me series.  If you have read that series, then you will know that this one is just as good as the rest. This one is Hendy and Presley's story.   If you read Out of Love, you will remember Foster mentioning a friend who he thought was lost in the war.  Well, it turns out Hendy was alive and being held captive.  This story takes place months after his rescue

I really enjoyed watching Presley and Hendy fall in love.  Their relationship was a slow burn that ended up being about friendship first.  Hendy had a mountain of baggage due to his injures from his time in captivity.  It was heartbreaking and I found my self rooting for him.  I was happy with is decision toward the end.  It made their  HEA that much stronger.  My favotire thing about this couple was the Jeapordy style clues that they would give to each other.  That was really cute.

This is another great offering form this author. It definitely can be read as a stand alone. I highly recommend it as well as her others.  You won't be sorry.

Blog Tour: Out of Love Blog Tour by RC Boldt

Foster Kavanaugh, former Navy SEAL, knows what it’s like to be the top dog, the man in charge, the one calling the shots. Now that he’s running his own security consulting firm, not much has changed.

Except the curvy blonde he hired as his office manager.

Noelle Davis has been through the damn ringer. Swearing off men after escaping a toxic relationship, she’s grateful for a fresh start—new job included. Of course, her job isn’t tranquil and calm. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Because her boss is the most infuriating man on the planet.

And, not to mention, sexy as hell.

Foster has limits. Rules. No attachments allowed because he doesn’t do love—and Noelle Davis foiled that plan and took a red pen to his list of rules. With her smart mouth and quick witted banter, he found the woman beginning to creep past his defenses.

When circumstances put Noelle in a perilous position, the first person to come to her rescue is none other than Foster Kavanaugh. She gets to see the man in action—not as her aggravating boss, but the man who will stop at nothing to ensure her safety.

The same man who makes her want to reconsider her self-imposed embargo of men.

The man she wants to get to know now that she’s seen another side of him.

The man who makes her want…more.

But is more possible when you're OUT OF LOVE?

**Out of Love is a full-length, standalone novel that does NOT need to be read in conjunction with any other book. **
I have been waiting for this book since I was first introduced to Foster and Noelle in the "Teach Me" series.  The back and forth between them has shown promise of a huge explosion once they finally got together.  And I wasn't disappointed.  I thoroughly enjoyed this one!  What is better then an alpha male?  An alpha male who is a former navy seal!  I loved how everyone around them knew they belonged together, but Noelle and Foster fought it so hard.  I was really rooting for them to finally figure out they were meant to be.

It was nice to catch up with some of the other characters from the Teach Me series.  Especially Momma K, as she has always been a favorite of mine.  There are two "mysteries" in the book.  One involving Noelle and he stalker ex-boyfriend. The other involves Foster and the loss of his former seal team mate,  Foster's looks like it will be a story arc, so I am eagerly waiting to see how that all plays out.  I highly recommend Out of Love.  It's a sigh worthy love story and a great transition into her spin-off series.

Blog Tour: Review and Excerpt of Remember When by RC Boldt

Author: RC Boldt
Publisher: RC Boldt Publishing
Date of publication: May 2016

The third installment of RC Boldt’s Teach Me series returns with two people who once had it all…

Over a decade ago, fourth grade teacher Tate Donnelly was attending college with the love of her life by her side. She had been certain, even then, that it was the forever kind of love. But she was proven wrong when he left her all alone to pick up the pieces of her life—and heart—when her entire world imploded.

Former Navy SEAL Miller Vaughn once had the love of a girl he thought would be his, and be by his side forever. Unfortunately, that only lasted until after he joined the Navy. Then she vanished, never to be heard from again. Throwing himself into his training, he vowed to become the best, toughest SEAL he could be, and never let a girl get the best of him again.

Years later, a man who resembles a boy she once knew reappears in her life. A boy she had loved with her whole being. A boy who had eviscerated her heart.

Though much time has passed, Tate and Miller still feel that same “pull” they did years ago. When truths about the past are revealed, will they both be able to move on from their painful past … or are they destined for heartbreak again?

Can they remember when their love was the most important thing in their world?

This series keeps getting better and better.  I really enjoyed Remember When, Book 3 in the Teach Me Series.  It's Tate and Miller's story.  We finally get to learn what happened between the couple and why they can't stand to be in the same room with each other.  Their story is just heart-wrenching. I was so rooting for them to get it together! The letters that started off each chapter just about broke my heart. I'm not going to give away what happened so you'll have to read to find out for yourself.  I will say that I was happy their getting back together took a while.  For me, it made the forgiveness and moving forward much more believable.  The "grand gesture" at the end was super cute!

This series is also great because of the extended cast of characters.  I love the banter between them all.  I can't wait for each of the single that are left to finally fall victim to the love bug, especially Lawson and Foster.  I can't wait for their stories!

Excerpt:There was no mistaking the glaring ‘Return to Sender’ stamps on the letters I held in my hand. Staring down at the letters I’d just retrieved from my mailbox in the commons area on campus, I couldn’t ignore the sick feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Miller and I had begun dating during our senior year of high school and it had been nothing short of spectacular. When the popular quarterback of our school’s undefeated football team had slid into the vacant seat beside me in AP Biology, asking if I’d be his partner, I had been surprised, as the two of us normally gravitated in completely different circles. No, he wasn’t a dumb jock; I had noticed him in some of my other AP classes, but still. I had been the Editor-in-Chief of the yearbook staff. Not exactly scintillating by high school standards.

We had grown closer, become friends, as we dissected animals and I’d discovered that we worked well as lab partners. Far better than I’d ever expected. We began studying for our tests and, little by little, I warmed up to him. When he’d asked me to go to the Homecoming Dance with him, I had been decidedly cautious.

“I don’t know …” I had hesitated. “Don’t you think you’d be better off taking Kalli? Or Stephanie?” I offered up names of the two extremely popular cheerleaders at our school. These were girls who showed absolutely no hesitation in fawning all over the tall, handsome Miller Vaughn with his sparkling blue eyes and dark hair. He was extremely muscular, even for a high school senior, and with his six foot three frame, he appeared intimidating to many.

Miller had given me a patient smile. “Tate, if I wanted to ask someone else to Homecoming, I would have. But I didn’t. I asked you.”

Looking up into his eyes, I had thrown caution to the wind. “Okay. But if it turns out to be like a scene from the movie Carrie, I’m going to be really pissed.”
His head was thrown back in laughter before gazing down at me with a tender smile. “Tate, I promise I won’t let anything happen to you.”

And he hadn’t. We had gone to the dance and he’d been a perfect gentleman, opening doors for me, holding my hand, his shoulders thrown back with pride as he walked into the gym with me on his arm. I’d had more fun than I had ever expected. And when it came time for him to bring me home, his soft lips pressed against mine in the sweetest kiss.

From that point on, we’d been inseparable. And by the time graduation came around, he had told me he loved me and wanted to be with me, for us to go to the same college. When we had both been accepted to UMU, it had seemed like it was meant to be—like we were meant to be.

Until the end of our freshman year.

Hard to Handle by RC Boldt

Author: RC Boldt
Publisher:  RC Boldt Publishing
Date of publication: February 2016

RC Boldt's Teach Me series gives us a closer look at just how thin the line is between love and hate…

Fifth grade social studies teacher, Laney Kavanaugh, is no stranger to being left behind – her father taught her that at a young age. That's why she always has her eyes wide open when it comes to men. She's determined she will never again be the one left behind. She doesn't let sex blur what they're really doing; it's always just sex.

Until Zach.

Zachariah Mayson, fifth grade writing and English teacher, has been the bane of Laney's existence from the moment they met at their shared elementary school. She can't stand him. He gets under her skin like no other and is always utterly obnoxious in his attempts–and successes–in getting a rise out of her.

Until the wedding.

Hard to Handle is the second book in the Teach Me series.  Zach and Laney have been teacher "frenemies" for eight years. They are always sniping at each other.  However Zach secretly wants it to stop and become more than friends.  Laney has sworn off love and commitment ever since her father left when she was little.

I really enjoyed this one, even though it was really gut wrenching at times. I will admit that I wanted to strangle Laney throughout most of this book. Zach was so in love with her and she was not wanting to see  any of that because of her childhood.  I loved seeing that Zach really wasn't a jerk,  It all just ended up being the only way he could get Laney to pay attention to him.  I don't want to say to much about the plot.  Just go read it.  The ending is super sweet.  I promise you will love it!

Blog Tour: Review & Excerpt of Wildest Dream by RC Boldt

Author: RC Boldt
Publisher: Self
Date of publication: December 2015

Taken from his parents and bounced from one foster home to the next, former Navy SEAL turned math teacher, Callum "Mac" Mackenzie had a rough childhood. The only time he's let himself get attached to anyone has been with his military "brothers". He's convinced he doesn't know how to love and certainly doesn't "do" relationships. He's spent fourteen years in the Navy and now he gets to live out his other dream: teaching.

Her thirtieth birthday fast approaching, science teacher, Raine Thompson feels as if her time to find "the one" is running out. She knows life is short, especially after dealing with breast cancer two years ago, and wants to experience her own happily ever after. But is it in the cards for her?

Finally acting on the simmering attraction they have long ignored, Raine and Mac decide to have a fling and they discover what it's like to have someone who knows you inside out also be the one who makes your body come alive.
But it was only temporary…

My thoughts:

Wildest Dreams is the debut book for this author.  For a debut, I thought it was a very enjoyable read.  The story included a good mix of humor and romance.  It was also rounded out nicely with a great cast of characters with meshed will together.   It was fun getting to know them and I look forward to their stories.

Mac and Raine are the focal point of this first story.  What I loved about this couple is that they developed a great friendship first.  Their relationship was comfortable and believable.  I could understand their reluctance to not want to move beyond that friendship because it was so good.  The only thing that I felt I was missing was really more in depth discussion about both of their baggage.  I didn't feel like it was enough for me.  I was also frustrated toward the end when they were apart.  When Mac finally tries to tell her he loves her and that he is sorry, Raine tells him it's too late since it was weeks later.  The problem was she never let him get close enough in that time to let him say it.  She spent weeks dodging his efforts.  So that was a little WTF moment for me.  Despite that, this is a cute couple that I was rooting for from the beginning.  I know you will too!

Excerpt:

Mac was sitting across from him with Tina's chair situated flush against his, her mouth close to his ear. Probably whispering gross, sexual things to him. Yuck.
Taking a sip of her drink, ‘Talk Dirty To Me' began playing and she reached out her hand to Zach. "Come on and dance with me," she called out to him. Jokingly, she added, "It's our song!"
He shook his head, giving her a rueful smile. "Next one," he yelled back.
Raine blew him a kiss before she returned to the dance floor. Just as she had resumed dancing on her own, she felt hands strongly grip her hips from behind and a body press flush against her, moving suggestively. Raine froze, certainly not enjoying the sudden invasion of her space by a stranger. Then, a voice spoke in her ear, "Move with me, baby."
No. Just, no.
Before she could remove herself from his grip, Mac appeared in front of her, holding out his hands for her to grasp. He gave a hard glare to the guy behind her that must have communicated something in man-speak to make the creeper let go of her. She mouthed "thank you" to which Mac merely winked.
He pulled her close as he danced with her, looking down with a wide grin on his face, that dimple of his making itself known. Twirling her quickly, he swung her back, close to his body as they continued to dance together.
Usher's ‘Yeah' came on next, causing her to squeal in excitement, making Mac shake his head in laughter, as he watched her begin to dance with vigor. He cast out an imaginary fishing line and she pretended to get hooked, with him reeling her in. They did the ‘lawnmower' and ‘shopping cart' moves, each of them bursting with laughter at each other's antics.
"Now, we're going to slow it down a bit for this next one," came the DJ's voice as the beginning of Ed Sheeran's ‘Thinking Out Loud' began to play.
Mac offered his hand to her. "May I?"
Eyes shining up at him, she took his hand. "You may."
They slow danced together like they had a dozen times before. Like she had done with Zach or Lawson or even Foster.
Suddenly remembering that Mac hadn't arrived alone tonight, she looked in the direction of their table. The guys were sitting there in conversation, but Tina was nowhere to be seen.
Her head swinging back toward Mac, Raine opened her mouth to ask about the absence of his ‘friend' when he simply told her, "She left."
Brows furrowed, Raine looked at him, waiting for further explanation. He simply shook his head. "Just dance with me." He twirled her out and back again, but this time, she stumbled on the return and, off balance, came flush against his chest.
She looked up at him to apologize but suddenly faltered as she met his gaze. The way he was watching her was unlike the usual way in which he looked at her. His gaze was noticeably different; heated and full of interest and with a hint of yearning?
No. That couldn't be. She wasn't even his type.
With her low heels on tonight, the top of her head still barely came up to his chin. She suddenly became aware of his hard body pressed against hers. She knew from when they went running together or to the beach that beneath his clothes was a well-defined chest and abs. But she felt more awareness in the air between them. Raine felt breathless, realizing her breasts were pressed against him, feeling his hardness against her stomach.
Mac leaned in closer, his hooded gaze locked onto her lips as her tongue slid out to wet them. Her breath hitched in anticipation. Just when she thought their lips would meet, she felt Mac press his forehead against hers instead. Raine exhaled slowly, trying to calm her own breathing.
What the hell just happened?
She had almost crossed the line with her friend. Willingly. Wanted to, even. And that was not okay.
"Mac?" she whispered to him with what she knew was a confused look on her face. He released her as the song ended and gave her a forced smile. "I've got to run to the restroom. Guard those hips of yours from creepy guys." With a wink, he was gone.
Which left her to wonder whether she was upset about what had almost happened between them…or disappointed that it hadn't.
