Review: Twice as Sexy by Carly Phillips

Author: Carly Phillips
Publisher: CP Publishing
Publication Date: January 2020

He’s the bad boy her mother warned her about.

The guy who makes her crave all the naughty things a good girl shouldn’t want.

Tanner Grayson is a man outrunning the demons of his past and has the rap sheet to prove it. The only thing keeping old anger in check and him on the straight and narrow are the men he calls brothers and the club he calls home. He has no business taking the sexy woman doing shots in his club upstairs to his bed.

They never should have crossed paths. But when Assistant District Attorney Scarlett Davis lays eyes on the hot as sin club owner, she decides he’s the birthday present she wants to unwrap at the end of the evening.

He tells himself it’s one night. She convinces herself she deserves a short break from her latest case. But one night isn’t enough and soon these two opposites are in deeper than they ever planned.

When Scarlett’s case collides with Tanner’s past, she sees the dangerous man he’s hidden beneath the cool veneer he presents to the world. Can she accept him for who he is? Or will she run from the bad boy who makes her feel so good?

Twice as Sexy was previously released as Sexy Hers.  This is the second in a trilogy dealing with three friends who own a night club, share a broken past and find love along the way.  This is Tanner and Scarlett's story. It works well as a stand alone, but after reading this one, I definitely want to go back and read the others.

I enjoyed the romance between the two.  It was a bit fast but they just clicked. Their chemistry was really strong and made for some steamy scenes. Both were flawed characters with a past.  I was rooting for Scarlett to see that everything wasn't black and white when it came to Tanner and his past.  I loved the other characters in the book as well, especially Tanner's sister.  I highly recommend this one and any of the Dare backlist!

Review: A Very Dare Christmas by Carly Phillips

Author: Carly Phillips
Publication Date: November 14, 2019

Ian Dare misses the alone time and intense sex life he and his wife shared before their children were born. What’s an alpha man to do? He kidnaps Riley for an erotic weekend away before the Christmas rush overwhelms them both.

Riley Dare adores her husband and his dominant and protective ways, and she’s excited to spend time with him minus distractions on a sexy retreat where anything goes … and spontaneity leads to future surprises.

A complete stand-alone for people who haven’t yet read Dare to Love but a special treat for those who want to revisit their favorite couple.

NOTE: this short story was already shared in Carly’s newsletter so if you subscribe you may have read it before but many have asked if they could have this on their Kindle.

A Very Dare Christmas is a quick holiday novella that features Ian and Riley.  They were the main characters of the first Dare story, Dare to Love.  I'll admit to having not read that particular book.  However, this little novella can definitely be read as a stand alone.  It's about two people who find a way to rekindle the intense connection that they had when they first got together.  Kids and careers have gotten in the way.   This is a really cute story.  I loved these two characters and how they were able to communicate their feelings.  I highly recommend this one.  It's a quick read and perfect to get you into the holiday spirit. You can pre-order it now at the links above.

Review: Take Me Again by Carly Phillips

Author: Carly Philllips
Publisher: CP Publishing
Date of publication: January 29, 2019

He's used to getting what he wants... but she’s going to make him work for it.

Sebastian Knight is a closer. Be it a real estate deal or the woman of his choice, everything he wants is his for the taking.

Sexy and irresistible, a wink, a smile, or a handshake always seals the deal.
Until everything unravels around him.

After Ashley Easton’s social climbing mother married into the Knight family, Ashley knew better than to get involved with sexy, trouble making Sebastian Knight but their attraction is undeniable, their chemistry intense, and in a moment of weakness, she turns to him, a mistake that cost her her home and her family. After she was sent away, she swore she’d never come back.

Sebastian never expected to see Ashley, the one woman he’s never been able to get over, again.

When she walks back into his life at the worst possible time, more beautiful than ever, he’s ready for a second chance. She’s sassy and sexy everything he’s ever desired. And she’s back for good. Except Ashley wants nothing to do with the playboy who broke her heart. Too bad his sex appeal makes it harder and harder to keep him at arm’s length.

Sebastian Knight might have a talent for sealing the deal but this is one game he’s going to have to work to win.

Take Me Again is the first in a new series about the Knight family.  This one is Ashley and Sebastian's story.  It's a quick second chance love story.  Ashley and Sebastian have a history.  They were friends once and tried to ignore the attraction between them because Ashley was only 16 at the time.  When they are caught kissing, Ashley is sent to boarding school and never came back.  Now she is back in town for Sebastian's sister-in-law's funeral.  The attraction is still there.

I enjoyed the book.  I really liked Ashley and Sebastian together.  I was worried that Ashley would hold the errors of youth over his head for far too long.  But she wisely forgave and let things go.  I ended up really rooting for them.  Sebastian had a need to want to please his family and show he could be trusted.  I felt like he had a lot of growth by the end of the book.  There is a little mystery that the two have to solve in regards to a big company account.  It wasn't ahrd to fiugure out, but it added a lot to the story. I am looking forward to reading about the other siblings in the series.  Patrick's story is up next.  I do recommend this one.  It was a great first in a new series.

Review: Dream by Carly Phillips

Author: Carly Phillips
Publisher: CP Publishing
Date of publication: October 16, 2018

As a little girl, Andrea Harmon wanted to marry a prince, and Kyle Davenport hoped it would be him. But he never told her how he felt, and lost her as a result. Because sometimes the bad guy gets the girl. And Kyle left town to get over her.

Andi made the wrong choice years ago, choosing the bad boy over the best friend she trusted and she paid for it every day since.
Coming face to face with his former best friend was bound to happen once he moved back to Rosewood Bay, but for Kyle, becoming her son’s new teacher is a painful reminder of what they never had. But this time around, Kyle is determined to change their ending. Prince Charming is determined to break down her walls.

Except that no happily-ever-after is won without a fight—and her ex-husband doesn’t like to lose.

Dream is the final (I think) book in the Rosewood Bay series.  This is Andi's story.  After the ending of Freed, I was really looking forward to Andi's book.  And is finally free from her abusive ex husband.  Her life is busy but on track as she works and raises her son.  She was Kyle's first love and now he is back in town.  The attraction is there stronger than ever. Can he forgive her for walking away all those years before?

This was a perfect way to end the series.  Andi and Kyle's second chance story was effortless and really sweet.  I loved them together. Once Kyle understood why she walked away all those years ago, his willingness to let go of the past was admirable.  I was also rooting for Andi to see that she didn't have to be completely independent because of one bad relationship.  Everyone needs a helping hand once in a while.

Dream is definitely my favorite of the series.  I highly recommend it when it comes out.  While you are waiting, why not give the other books a try?

Freed by Carly Phillips

Author: Carly Phillips
Publisher: CP Publishing
Date of publication: July 2018

Juliette Collins is privileged and isolated from the world by her over-protective father. She thinks she knows the truth about her history until a file on her father’s computer reveals she has sisters she never knew about. A family she’s never met. Betrayed, she realizes there’s a life waiting for her outside the walls of her daddy’s New York City penthouse and Juliet is determined to live it. Against her father’s wishes, she heads to a small beach community to meet her siblings… and finds herself way out of her depth instead.

In the personal protection business, Braden Clark thinks nothing of taking on a job to watch over a city girl in town for the summer. If her father wants to know his daughter is safe, it’s no problem and an easy way of earning a paycheck. Except Braden doesn’t count on falling for the sheltered Juliette. Watching her experience her firsts, getting an apartment, finding a job, meeting up with her lost sisters, soon Braden’s brand of protection becomes a little too personal. He’s mixing business with pleasure and lying to a woman he’s coming to care deeply about.

In Freed, we finally get to meet the missing Ward sister, Juliette.   She finds out that she has two sisters her father never told her about and sets out to met them.  Having been sheltered for most of her life, she is ready to be on her own.  Braden is a local PI who is hired by Juliette's father to watch over her and give him regular reports.

This is another solid addition to the series. I really liked Juliette and the fact that she wasn't a naive and spoiled rich kid. For someone who had been sheltered most of her life, she was surprisingly street smart and had a good head on her shoulders.  It was easy to see why Braden would end up liking her. They were great together.   His story was more heartbreaking as he dealt with his father's worsening Alzheimer's.  I really enjoyed their love story.  I do wish that there was more interaction between Juliette and her sisters.  I felt like I could have used more on page time with them getting to know each other.

This is a sweet and fun series.  I do recommend giving it a shot.  I am looking forward to reading Andi's story, especially after reading the epilogue.  I'm intrigued!

Breathe by Carly Phillips

Author: Carly Phillips
Publisher: CP Publishing
Date of publication: May 2o18

From troubled teen to successful general contractor, Jake Nichols turned his life around from his time in foster care. Divorced and single, he juggles his time between his daughter and his work. Next on his agenda, a new project that is his chance to prove his worth at the job he loves. Except he never anticipates that the only girl he's ever loved and lost as a teen is now a grown and beautiful woman in charge of the project.

Phoebe Ward has survived and conquered a painful past that includes foster care and becoming a teenaged mom. She wants nothing more than to focus on the present but it’s hard when she looks into the eyes of her son, knowing she’s tried and failed to find his father. She’s resigned herself to raising him alone with the help of her family… Until a client meeting brings her face to face with her first love. A boy… now a sexy man she thought she’d never see again … and the father of her child.
So many years have gone by and both of their lives have changed drastically. Will they be able to put the past behind them and find the second chance they both deserve?

Breathe is the second book in the Rosewood Bay series.  It's a second chance romance focusing on Phoebe Ward.  She and Jake were an item while in foster care.  After being rescued by her aunt, she never saw him again.  He doesn't know they have a son.  Normally, I'm not a big fan of secret baby stories. However, to Phoebe's credit, she did try to find Jake with no success.  I enjoyed their story and their journey of reconnecting. I loved how Jake was all in from the start, even more so once he found out about Jamie.

While I did like the story, I felt like it needed something more. Its hard to pinpoint exactly what was missing.  It's probably a combination of a few things.  I kind of wished there would have been a little more angst here.  It was all a little too easy and smooth.  Their reunion lacked the heat I was expecting between this couple.  Even the conflict with Jake's ex was fairly mild and resolved a bit too quickly.  It almost read like a novella but it was a a full length book.  Still, I do recommend trying it out.  I look forward to reading Freed, Juliette's story next.

Fearless by Carly Phillips

Author: Carly Phillips
Publisher: CP Publishing
Date of publication: March 20, 2018

Mechanic and garage owner, Kane Harmon is used to the wealthy beautiful women visiting his beach town. He doesn't get involved because he knows most females would merely be slumming for the summer.

Except Halley Ward isn't just passing through. She lives a solitary life in a bungalow on the beach. A woman tormented by her past, distant from her wealthy family, different from Kane's usual fare of town girls who know his M.O.- Don't expect more than he's willing to give.

Kane rescues Halley and her broken down car from the side of the road and instantly he's hooked. She says she's not interested in him. He knows she lies. And he makes it his mission to bring her back to life, to return her emotionally to her family. To show her the colors around her were as vibrant as the ones she puts on her canvas.

Until past meets present and threatens all the progress they've made. Then it's Halley's turn to step up and stand up for the relationship and life she's finally coming to believe she deserves.

Fearless is the first in a new series about the Ward siblings who live in Rosewood Bay.  This is Kane and Halley's story.  Halley Ward in an artist and kind of a loner.  She doesn't like to venture out much from her comfortable beach house.  But when her car breaks down, Kane  Harmon is the one to rescue her.  He was her silent protector in high school and is now interested in getting to know her more.

This is a sweet, slow burn romance.  I loved that it took time for them to fall for each other.  Halley's background story was really crummy. Hearing that she spent ten years in foster care, I could understand her fear to really put herself out there and trust someone.  When her ex-con mother showed up, I was screaming for her not to trust the woman.  It's funny how the one person she shouldn't trust was the one person she wanted to trust the most.  While there wasn't much angst, the story wasn't slow or boring.  I definitely recommend this one and look forward to Phoebe's story in Breathe! It looks like it's coming out in May 2018.

Tempt Me by Carly Phillips

Author: Carly Phillips
Publisher: CP Publishing
Date of publication: January 16, 2018

Burned by an ex with a wandering eye, Austin Rhodes has sworn off women. His sole focus is his young daughter - and despite his good intentions, the little girl's live-in nanny. He hired Mia Atwood to care for his child but he finds himself lusting after her instead. Keeping his distance isn’t easy but he’s determined to be a gentleman. Until Mia's past comes back to haunt her and she’s in need of Austin’s brand of protection. Suddenly she’s his in every sense of the word — and he’ll do whatever it takes to shield the woman who tempts him beyond reason.

Tempt Me is the second book in the Bodyguard Bad Boys series.  This is Austin's story.  This can easily be read as a stand alone.  The characters from the first book make small appearances in this book, but you don't need to know their backgrounds to appreciate this romance.

I thought this was a really cute "single dad falls in love with the nanny" story.  What I loved most is that they really got to know each other before acting on their attraction.  They both are aware of the boundaries that need to be there because Mia is Austin's employee.  Once they do give in though, they really ignite.  I loved them together.  I loved Mia's relationship with Bailey, Austin's daughter.
The only thing that I didn't care for was was the lack of suspense. Austin is a bodyguard and ends up having to keep Mia safe.  However, I never really got the sense that anything bad was going to happen to her.  I think the suspense could have been built up a bit more.  Still, it's a fun romance and will warm your heart and leave you with a smile.

Rock Me by Carly Phillips

Author: Carly Phillips
Publisher: CP publishing
Date of publication: September 2017

Bodyguard Bad Boys… Sexy, Hot, and oh so protective!
A pop star in danger.
Her reluctant bodyguard.
A past they can’t deny.
Summer Michelle is on the verge of ultimate fame.
Ben Hollander has sworn off mixing business with pleasure.

But keeping his hands off of the sexy songstress is easier said than done and once the threat is neutralized, will she choose fame over love?

Goodreads

Rock Me is the first in a new series about bad boy body guards.  This is Ben and Summer's story.  It's a cute second chance story about two people who were destined to be together.  When Summer starts getting threats during a competition, Ben is hired to be her personal body guard.  He is still resentful of how things went down years before, but he is a professional and can definitely keep it that way.

I thought this was a cute story.  Both Ben and Summer were genuinely likable characters.  Their chemistry was off the charts.  There was a little mystery, but it wasn't too hard to figure out.  Still it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the romance.  This was a fun story and one I recommend checking out.

Blog Tour: Well Built by Carly Phillips & Erika Wilde

Authors: Carly Phillips & Erika Wilde
Publisher: CP Publishing
Date of publication: July 2017

When it comes to women, sexy, well-built Kyle Coleman has always been a lover, not a fighter.  His one exception?  The sassy, tempting, smart-mouthed Ella Fisher.  Her family and his are sworn enemies, which make the two of them off-limits—despite the fact that she's inspired some of his dirtiest, most erotic fantasies for years. But when the lines between animosity and lust become irrevocably blurred one fateful evening, their one night stand leads to a very unexpected consequence—that changes everything between them forever.

Add to Goodreads

Well Built is the third book in the Book Boyfriend series.  This is Kyle's story.  Kyle and Ella were high school sweethearts until one night when it all ended.  Now 10 years later, Kyle is back home to make a dream come true for his mother.  Unfortunately, it means that Ella can't fulfill her dream.

While not my favorite of the series, I still enjoyed it. Ella and Kyle still had a lot of chemistry even after 10 years.  Their feelings for each other had not dwindled  My biggest complaint about the story was its length.  I felt like it was too short.  Ella and Kyle get together and then it's three months later.  I would have liked to see more of them together.  Instead, we are just kind of told what they were up to over that time. I would have bought into the romance a bit more had I seen their interactions as adults.  Don't get me wrong, I still liked the two of them together.  I just wanted more.

This can definitely be read as a stand alone.  The other characters from the first two books make an appearance, but it's not necessary to have read those to enjoy this one.  I definitely recommend this one as well  as the others in the series. I look forward to Connor's book next.

Going in Deep is the final book in the Bad Boy Billionaires series.  In the first book, Julian betrayed Kade by suing his company and using Kendall against Kade and her sister Lexie.  Now he is clean and sober and working the AA program intensely.  He has a lot to make up for starting with getting Kendall back.  Kendall finally has a handle on her bipolar disorder and her life is on track.

What I loved about this is that neither Julian or Kendall made excuses for their behavior while they were spiraling out of control.  Both took complete responsibility and I could genuinely feel their commitment to making amends and moving on with a new and better life.  Their reunion wasn't easy, yet it wasn't too angsty. which I appreciated.   I was really rooting for them because everyone deserves a second chance, especially this couple.  I thought this was a great way to end the series.  It worked well as a stand alone as do all of the books in this series.  I look forward to seeing what this author has in store for us next!

Blog Tour: Faking It by Carly Phillips & Erika Wilde

Authors:Carly Phillips & Erika Wilde
Publisher: CP Publishing
Date of publication: April 11, 2017

Confirmed bachelor Max Sterling isn't into rescuing damsels in distress, but when the very tempting Hailey Ellison needs his help, there's only one thing for him to do. Step in and pose as her loving fiancé. Except there is nothing fake about his attraction to her, or how much he wants her beneath him in his bed, moaning his name. But what starts as a sexy, flirty, temporary engagement, quickly becomes something more serious that neither one ever anticipated.

Add to Goodreads:

Faking It is the second in the "Book Boyfriend" series.  Book boyfriend is a really good name for this series because I know my list has just gotten longer.  I thought I loved Wes from the first book,  Big Shot, but I have to say, I think I loved Max even more!  This is his and Hailey's story.  We caught a brief glimpse of her in the first book.  When done right, the fake engagement can be a fun read and this one was no exception.

As I said, I loved Max.  His reaction to finding out that Hailey really wasn't engaged was so perfect! It was fun watching these two fall for each other.  The way he helped Hailey realize that she was perfect, flawed body and all, was really sweet.

What I love about these is that each one can really be read as stand alone books.  My only real complaint is that it was too short and I wanted more of the couple.  I definitely recommend this one.  It's a quick read and I will bet Max will make your ever growing book boyfriend list!

Blog Tour: Going Down Hard by Carly Phillips

Author: Carly Phillips
Publisher: CP Publishing LLC
Date of publication: February 2017

A stand-alone Billionaire Bad Boys novel.

Billionaire Bad Boys: Rich, Powerful and sexy as hell.

Derek West rose from poverty to take the tech world by storm. He's sexy, confident and gets any woman he wants. And who he wants is Cassie Storm, the rich girl he’s never been good enough for.

She’s desperate to save her family company and there’s only one man who can help. But Derek isn’t interested in helping. He wants to possess both the company and the woman he’s never been able to forget.

His plan? To screw her out of his head. Except once he’s had a taste of Cassie, he doesn’t want to let her go. Her family remembers where he came from, and they won’t allow it. When the truth about their pasts comes to light, though, it may be Cassie who’s going down hard.

Going Down Hard is the third book in the Bad Boy Billionaire series.  Each one can pretty much stand alone, so you won't loose much by not reading them in order.  This one is Derek and Cassie's story.  The couple grew up together, but in different circles.  Derek's parents were the caretakers for Cassie's rich parents.  After his mother was accused of theft and fired years before, Derek has always wanted revenge on the family.

I have been enjoying this series and this one definitely added to my enjoyment.  I loved Cassie and Derek together.  Their attraction was off the charts.  I have always loved second chance stories.  Their past was one of misunderstanding and hurt feelings.  I was really rooting for these two to make it. It was appalling how Cassie's family treated her. So, the justice that was done in the end was priceless!

I highly recommend this one as well as the first two int eh series.  I am so looking forward to Julian and Kendall's story.  I know that one is going to be gut wrenching!

Blog Tour: Big Shot (A Book Boyfriend Novel 1) by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde

Authors: Carly Phillips & Erika Wilde
Publisher: CP Publishing
Date of publication:January 2017

New York Times Bestselling Authors Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde bring you a sexy new standalone romance.

Fall in love with your next Book Boyfriend . . .

Wes Sinclair is a notorious heart-breaker, a hot as sin bad boy with a panty-dropping smile no woman can resist. Except for his best friend's little sister and business adversary, Natalie Prescott, who seems immune to his flirtatious charms. While she's become a permanent fixture in his dirtiest, most scandalous fantasies, she wants nothing to do with him, or his seductive promises. Challenge accepted. His goal? To bring her to her knees, make her beg, and show her just how good being bad can be.

Big Shot is the first in a new series by this wonderful writing duo.  It's a spin-off series from the Dirty Sexy series. With one of my favorite  romance themes, the friends to lovers story was very entertaining.  Wes and Natalie grew up together.  For years there has been tension between them, but neither has ever acted.  Now a bet between them might give the opportunity for more.

As I said, this was a very entertaining romance.  I thought Wes and Natalie made a great couple.  Having known each other forever, they just seemed right.  The speed of their romance made sense.  I loved the way they could laugh with each other.  The poker night scenes were absolutely hilarious.  It's a pretty quick read and I wish it was a bit longer.  Only because I wanted more of the couple.

Be on the lookout for appearances from some old friends from the previous series.  That was a nice treat.  This is a definite stand alone book and I look forward to Max's story in the next one.

DIRTY SEXY SINNER . . . The surprise fourth book in the DIRTY SEXY SERIES!

All books in the DIRTY SEXY Series are stand-alone novels!

New York Times bestselling authors Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde bring you a dirty, sexy, smoking hot SERIES featuring four bad boy heroes who are bonded by shocking secrets and their damaged past. Sinful, addicting, and unapologetically alpha, these men are every woman’s erotic daydream ... And your ultimate dirty fantasy. Find on  Goodreads

Dirty Sexy Cuffed ended in a huge surprise. As in, my jaw hit the floor. I was eager to get my hands on Dirty Sexy Sinner to find out how it was all going to play out.  This is Jackson and Tara's story.
I loved the two of them together.  Loved how they interacted.  They seemed to be from two different worlds, but when you got to the center of both of them, they had so much more in common. My heart really felt for Tara over the guilt she felt about the death of her ex boyfriend.  It was just gut-wrenching.

If you haven't read the previous three, this might be a spoiler. But don't get me wrong, it can be read as a stand alone! Jackson is Clay's twin brother who was sold by their mother for drugs.  He had a nice home growing up, but never really had love and approval from either of his adopted parents.  He worked hard for everything he had.  Watching the brothers get to know him and open their hearts to him was touching.

I loved the ending and the epilogue.  I will miss these couples.  I have really enjoyed their journeys as they found love and family.  I highly recommend the Dirty Sexy series to readers who love alphas males and sigh worthy HEAs.
