Blog Tour: Review of One More Kiss by Tara September

Step one: Kiss Cal again. Just one more kiss.
Step two: Kiss someone else to compare.
Step three: Permanently close the door on Cal Chase.
Once again, I bang on the connecting door to my dorm room, trying to be heard over the blaring music coming from the other side. My bestie should be living in that room, but no, she transferred to be with her boyfriend, and now I’m stuck sharing a wall with stupidly hot track star Cal Chase. My friends say I'm lucky, but his mere presence annoys me, along with his late-night music and the constant gaggle of giggly girls who visit. I’m the only one who can see right through that patented “Cal Charm”. He’s just another player, and I’m not game.
So, why the hell did I let him give me an out-of-this-world kiss under the stars the other night? It had to be the magic of the meteor shower. I can’t actually like him, right? I simply need to prove Cal’s stellar kiss was a fluke, and I know how to do it and in just three steps.
Should be easy, right?
Yeah, famous last words.

My thoughts:

One More Kiss is a cute enemies to lovers novella.  I liked the set up of the story.  April and Cal are next door neighbors in the dorm.  April is convinced they hate each other, but Cal has other ideas. I liked the chemistry between Aril and Cal. Their relationship got cuter once the connecting door was opened.  It's super short and will leave you with a smile at the end.    I only wish it was a longer story.  I could have spent more time with them.  The audiobook production was great and I enjoyed the narrator's voices.  I highly recommend this one.

Synopsis: What can go wrong being stuck on a cruise ship with your ex and entering into a fake relationship with a sexy coworker? It might not be the Titanic, thank goodness, but Eve Richard’s heart is sinking by the minute and love is definitely going down.

Pulitzer-prize-winning war journalist turned small-town newspaperman, Adam Seager, has given up a lot for his work, country, and family, but not this time. He knows what he wants, and it’s his coworker, Eve. Her smile is the brightest part of his day and a daily reminder that more adventures are yet to come. When they are both assigned a travel feature on board a new cruise ship, it’s the perfect opportunity to let his feelings set sail.

Eve will never date another coworker or writer again. Been there, done that. Time to pursue her own writing dreams, even if it means bunking with the infuriating and complicated Adam Seager. So what if the butterflies he sets off in her belly can rival the waves outside their cabin. She intends to keep things strictly professional … that is, as much as they can be while also pretending to be a couple. Their relationship might be fake, but the pull to get to know more of him is real. Her reporter’s gut says there is more to uncover than meets the eye. But what will happen when they are back on dry land?

My thoughts:

Don't Start Now as a really quick and cute romance.  It involves co-workers Adam and Eve.  They are tasked with going on a cruise and writing about their experience for their newspaper's travel section.  They enter into a fake relationship with Eve's backstabbing ex shows up.

As I said, this was a cute fake dating romance.  I really enjoyed Adam.  I loved how he was all in and did what he could to make Eve trust him.  Having been seriously wronged by her ex, she has some serious trust issues. But I thought they were good together.  I listen to audiobooks at 2x speed, so I was able to listen to it in about 2 hours.  The narrator did a wonderful job.  If highly recommend this one.

Publisher: Plus it Up2019
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release date: Dec. 11, 2019

’Tis the season for an office romance!

Working beyond nine to five and barely getting by, Melanie Thomas is eager to celebrate the impending holiday season and to toast the start of her dream marketing job over drinks with her boyfriend. Unfortunately, he has different plans - like seeing other women.

Indulging in a pity party with tequila, Melanie confides in a sexy stranger at the bar. It’s almost Christmas. One night of letting go won’t hurt anything, right? Turns out, it just might, when the stranger is her new boss. Determined to succeed at her job, Melanie won’t be scared away. This is her chance, even if her hot boss has her feeling all merry and bright and wishing for a less-than-professional relationship.

Matthew Ryans is burned out and on thin ice at the company he helped build, unless he gets his head back in the game. Yet, his head, both upper and lower, are quickly becoming obsessed with his new assistant. Still, he can’t seem to fully begrudge Melanie’s distracting presence and the Christmas joy she brings with it. Especially considering that her enthusiasm has him reenergized.
For once, he is longing for Mondays, but with his heart and job on the line, he can’t risk blurring the lines no matter how strong the lure of holiday mistletoe is.

Will their holiday passion be able to fuel mutual career success, or will it only get in their way in the New Year?

Mine to Five is a steamy, sweet and quick romance. I enjoyed this author's previous book, Jesse's Girl. I am happy to say that I enjoyed this one as well.  While the Jesse's Girl is a slow burn, Mine to FIve is a much faster time table.   Melanie and Matthew were cute together.  They had an attraction that was hard to ignore.  Even though they had a one night stand initially, I liked that they took their time to get to know each other before hooking up again.  I listened to this on audio and enjoyed experiencing it in that format.  The narrator is one I have heard before and I always enjoy her voices.  I definitely recommend this one.

Blog Tour: Review of Jesse's Girl by Tara September

Author: Tara September
Narrator: Verla Bond
Length: 3 hours 37 minutes
Publisher: Plus it Up2019
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release date: Sep. 6, 2019

Successful Texas lawyer, Reade Walker, curses that damn song every time it plays, all too aware of the irony of its lyrics. After all, he has been secretly and painfully enamored with Jesse's girl, Gwen, for nearly a decade. It was love at first sight for him, but sadly she's not his girl. She belongs to the one man who betrayed him and knows Reade's hidden family secret. Yet, Reade can't seem to love anyone except the one woman he can't have. Or can he make her mine?

When Gwen Clark's senator husband runs off with his intern and all their money, the ensuing scandal turns her life upside down. Deserted, penniless, and desperate to provide for her six-year-old daughter, Gwen has no one to turn to but Reade Walker. The one man her heart desperately wants, but her pride dreads having to ask for help. Despite welcoming them into his home, it seems like Reade can barely stand being in the same room with her anymore, let alone under the same roof - in the same bedroom. But Gwen is determined to get her life back on track. It is past time to rediscover her own dreams...if only she can keep her aching heart from breaking all over again.

My Thoughts:

Jesse's Girl was an enjoyable novella.   Gwen and Reade have loved each other for a long time, but Gwen has been married to Read's best friend.  When Gwen's husband takes all of their money and leaves the country with his mistress, Gwen must turn to Reade for help.

The audiobook was very well done.  It's only about 31/2 hours long.  Even though it is short, it's got a pretty slow burn romance. I really liked that aspect as it's unusual to find in a short story. I enjoyed the couple.  They had great banter and excellent chemistry.  I only wish that the book was a little longer or had an epilogue.  I definitely recommend this one if you are in the mood for a short and sweet friends to lovers romance.
