She's Got Sass...
Emily Cooper promised her dying grandfather that she'd deliver a long-lost letter to a woman he once planned to wed. Little does adventurous Emily know that this simple task will propel her to places she never could have imagined...with a cowboy who's straight out of her dreams...

He's Got Mail...
When sexy rancher Greg Adams discovers his grandmother Clarice has installed Emily on their ranch as her assistant, he decides to humor the two ladies. He figures Emily will move on soon enough. In the meantime, he intends to keep a close eye on her—he doesn't quite buy her story of his grandmother as a mail-order bride.

My thoughts:

The Cowboy's Mail Order Bride was a really fun book to read. Emily goes to Greg's ranch to deliver some letters to his grandmother.  She is fulfilling her grandfather's dying wish.  She only planned on being there for one day.  What she didn't plan on was finding love and a home.    I loved watching Emily and Greg fall for each other.  More than their story, though, I loved all of the other characters in the book.  Clarice, Dottie, Rose and Madge added a lot of comic relief to the book.  Their plan for finding Greg a wife was too funny!  This is the third book in the series and for me it was the best. Each of them can be read as a stand alone, so you could start with this one.

Kari& Autumn: What inspired you to become a writer?

Carolyn:  Good morning, Kari and Autumn. Thank you so much for inviting me to stop by your site. It’s delightful to me here and to visit with y’all. Can you believe it’s almost Valentine’s Day? Emily and Lucas have quite a mix-up about the Valentine’s Day party in The Cowboy’s Mail Order Bride, but like all misunderstandings, it does get worked out and oh, my, what a lovely evening! But enough, you said something about asking questions…

Now for the question: Reading! When I figured out what those squiggly lines were in the books, I wanted to tell stories like they did. When I didn’t have a book to read, I made one up in my head and entertained my brother and sister with the story.

Kari& Autumn: Where do you come up with the ideas for your books?

Carolyn:  Anything can inspire a book. A couple talking across a barbed wire fence, evidently both very upset about something. A news item about a family who was still feuding after years and years brought on the Burnt Boot Series.  One of my author friends sending a joke inspired a trilogy about three sisters and a murdered abusive husband. Wondering what path my own life might have taken if my proposal and engagement ring (which came via snail mail more than 40 years ago) had gotten lost along the way. That last one is the inspiration for The Cowboy’s Mail Order Bride.

Kari& Autumn: What exciting projects are waiting in the wings?

Carolyn:  The Red Hot Chili Cook-off, the second book in the women’s fiction trilogy set in Cadillac, Texas, will hit the shelves. After that the final book in Cowboy’s and Brides, How to Marry a Cowboy, is scheduled for July. Then in August, there’s a debut book in the Red Dirt Series, Long Hot Texas Summer. And in October, the Burnt Boot Series kicks off with Cowboy Boots for Christmas (Cowboy Not Included). After that there’s another women’s fiction in the works and lots more cowboys!

Kari& Autumn: Who is your favorite literary character and why?

Carolyn:  Katy Scarlett O’Hara because she was made of pure sass and grit.

Kari& Autumn: Just for fun, if you could be any animal, what would it be and why?

Carolyn:  A cat. They are independent, sassy, determined and loveable. They find a nice cuddly blanket and sleep away the hours without feeling guilty about it and folks don’t look at them like they’ve lost their minds when they play…no matter how old they are!
