Review: After Dark with Roxie Clark by Brooke Lauren Davis

Author: Brooke Lauren Davis
Publisher: Bloomsbury YA
Publication Date: October 2022

Roxie Clark has seen more dead bodies than your average seventeen-year-old. As a member of the supposedly-cursed Clark family, most of her ancestors have met tragic ends, including her own mother. Instead of fearing the curse, however, Roxie has combined her flair for performance and her gruesome family history into a successful ghost tour. But her tour never covers the most recent body she's seen-her sister Skylar's boyfriend, Colin Riley, found murdered in a cornfield.

A year after the murder, Roxie's desperate to help Skylar find closure and start to heal. Instead, Skylar becomes fixated on finding the killer. As the sisters dig into what really happened, they discover that more than one person has been lying about that night. And the closer they get to the truth, the more Roxie starts to wonder if some scary stories might be better left untold. Brooke Lauren Davis offers another thought-provoking and eerily satisfying tale, perfect for fans of Kara Thomas and Cruel Summer.

After Dark with Roxie Clark is a YA mystery involving Roxie as she tries  to figure out who murdered her sister's boyfriend. The problem is that Skylar has her sights set on Roxie's BFF Tristan.  This is the first book that I finished in the new year and I'm happy to say the year is off to a great start.

I thought this was a great YA msytery.  I was convinced that the solution was going to be one thing. Boy was I wrong.  I was completely surprised at the truth.  I liked Roxie's character.  She is someone who does love her family and will for what she can to help them.   loved her personality and her love of the macabre.  Her ghost tour is one that I would definitely be interested in going on.  I enjoyed the stories that she put together for each place that she visits on the tour.  The romance wasn't annoying and was very sweet.  I highly recommend this one.
