Gingerbread Bones is a fresh re-telling of Hansel and Gretel. Georgie and her brother are forced to take part in a reality show where troubled teens have to survive in the wilderness. After reaching their destination, they wake up to the adults missing and clear indication that something is not right. Someone is forcing them to play a dangerous game.
I ended up really enjoying this one. The teens weren't annoying and their reactions to what was going on were fairly realistic. There were a lot of big personalities but they all worked well in the story. It was really creepy and had just the right level of gore that I like in YA horror. The witch was terrifying! The elements that related to Hansel and Gretel were woven very well into the narration and didn't feel forced. The ending was perfect. I highly recommend this one.
