Blog Tour: The Kill List by Nichole Christoff

Author: Nichole Christoff
Publisher: Random House Alibi
Date of publication; December 2014

As a top private eye turned security specialist, Jamie Sinclair has worked hard to put her broken marriage behind her. But when her lying, cheating ex-husband, army colonel Tim Thorp, calls with the news that his three-year-old daughter has been kidnapped, he begs Jamie to come find her. For the sake of the child, Jamie knows she can’t refuse. Now, despite the past, she’ll do everything in her power to bring little Brooke Thorp home alive.

Soon Jamie is back at Fort Leeds—the army base in New Jersey’s Pine Barrens where she grew up, the only child of a two-star general—chasing down leads and forging an uneasy alliance with the stern military police commander and the exacting FBI agent working Brooke’s case. But because Jamie’s father is now a U.S. senator, her recent run-in with a disturbed stalker is all over the news, and when she starts receiving gruesome threats echoing the stalker’s last words, she can’t shake the feeling that her investigation may be about more than a missing girl—and that someone very powerful is hiding something very significant . . . and very sinister.

I'll admit, this year has not been a great year for me as far as books go.  Especially in the mystery genre.  But, I am happy to say that The Kill List is an exception.  I really enjoyed this book and found myself not wanting to put it down.  I thought the plot was well planned out with reveals at jsut the right time.  It definitely kept me guessing with a couple of twists.

I loved the main character, Jamie.  She is a PI/security expert for hire.  She is independent, tough and just what I look for in a strong female lead.  She isn't without her demons though. Still looking for approval from her father, she knows she cannot fail at finding her ex-husband's missing daughter.  On top of that, she has a psycho murderer looking for her.  There is a little hint of a romance with a sexy military man, but that part doesn't overshadow the mystery.  I considered it a nice addition.

Alibi has a great debut author on their hands.  I see bright things for Ms. Christoff.  I look forward to the next book featuring Jamie, The Kill Shot, coming out next year!
