When a fugitive accused of murdering his ex-wife disappears into the Montana backcountry with his nine-year-old daughter, FBI Hostage Rescue Team sniper Sebastian Black leads an intensive manhunt, battling snowstorms and brutal terrain in a race against the clock.
National Park Service ranger and search-and-rescue specialist Nora Deacon knows the mountains better than anyone. Alongside her K9 partner, Chance, she’s determined to find the missing girl. Nora is achingly familiar with what can happen when a child falls into the wrong hands.
As the search narrows, Sebastian and Nora are forced to work together in a fight for survival as much as a rescue operation. The closer they get to their target, the more dangerous the situation becomes—and the harder it is to ignore the attraction burning between them.
With a blizzard closing in, a desperate fugitive growing increasingly unstable, and a young girl’s life hanging in the balance, they’ll have to risk everything to bring her home alive—even if it means confronting secrets they’ve both worked hard to bury.
Cold Rage is the 8th book in the Cold Justice: Most Wanted series. This one is Sebastian's story. He and the rest of the team join up with Nora, a National Park ranger who specializes in search and rescue with her dog Chance. They are tasked with looking for a murderer who has fled into the mountains and taken his daughter with him.
This a wonderful addition to the series. The tension and action is elevated throughout the entire book. I definitely was on the edge of my seat. I also can't remember the last time I felt cold reading a book. The author really knows how to create atmosphere! I loved Sebastian and Nora together. Nora has a tragic past and has worked hard to move past it all to become who she is today. Sebastian also had a pretty crappy past. For a couple that never wanted to have a relationship, these two just fit so well together. While it was a little quick, their HEA was totally believable. I highly recommend this one. I can't wait to see which team member gets the next story!
