Blog Tour: Review of Mail Order Cowboy by Victoria James

Author: Victoria James
Publisher: Entangled: Amara (December 27, 2022)
Mass Market Paperback: 364 pages

Hope Roberts has a strict No Cowboys Allowed policy. Between raising her daughter, running her business, and trying to settle into her new ranch, Hope has no room for romance?especially when it comes to cowboys. What she needs is someone to help fix her ranch. But the only person to respond to her ad is the one man Hope still blames for her husband’s death…

In Wishing River, Dr. Dean Stanton is pretty much a legend. Cowboy, doctor, heir to his family’s ranching empire?everyone knows and loves him…with the exception of Hope. But Dean doesn’t trust a complete stranger to keep Hope and her daughter safe. And despite their troubled past, he’s still the best cowboy for her job.

Bit by cautious bit, Hope’s little family of two is making room for the man she once thought of as her enemy. Until one day, Dean looks like the perfect exception to her “no cowboys” rule. But he’s been keeping a secret from her that could destroy their newfound family…

Each book in the Wishing River series is STANDALONE:
* The Trouble with Cowboys
* Cowboy for Hire
* Wishing For A Cowboy
* Mail Order Cowboy

Mail Order Cowboy is the fourth book in the Wishing River series.   This is Hope  and Dean's book.  As a series overall, the books have been enjoyable.  They are fairly clean romances and each can stand on its own.  This one was a sweet romance between two people who need each other, but aren't ready to take that leap.   I have been looking forward to Dean and Hope finally getting together.  They had been teased for a while.  I had a lot of fun watching them figure things out.  I loved Dean in the end.  I was cheering him on in that scene with his father.  I also really enjoyed the epilogue.  I do recommend this one as well as the series.

Review: Cowboy for Hire by Victoria James

Author: Victoria James
Publisher: Entangled: Amara
Publication Date: March 2020
Sarah Turner has led a very sheltered life. So when her parents pass away tragically, suddenly she’s left in charge of the family ranch with little know-how but plenty of will to keep it afloat. Determined not to lose her parents’ legacy or her newfound independence, she needs a hero fast—not to save her, but to show her how to save herself. But she’s unprepared for the ruggedly handsome cowboy who answers her ad.
“Cowboy for Hire,” the ad said, and Cade Walker is quick to respond. Betrayed as ranch manager by his former boss, he’s looking for a new place to put down roots—without the pressure to prove himself again. Except when he meets his new boss, it’s clear he’s not only there to run a ranch but to also teach Miss Independent how to run it. But as they struggle to make the ranch flourish, they’ll both need courage if they hope to find a family...together.
Cowboy for Hire is the second book in the Wishing River Series.  This is Cade's story.  He leaves his job at his friend's ranch to become ranch manager at a neighboring ranch.  Sarah, the owner, is trying to get the ranch back on it's feet and learn how to run it as well.  This one was by far my favorite out of the three in the series so far.
I really loved Cade and Sarah's story.  This couple was so suited for each other.  My heart broke for Cade and his back story.  His always feeling like he wasn't good enough was heartbreaking.  Sarah's back story and the way he parents deprived her of really living was equally sad.  I loved their banter.  I loved watching them fall in love.  This was a very sweet story.  I highly recommend this one.

Title: Wishing for A Cowboy
Author: Victoria James
Genre: Contemporary Romance

𝑭𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑵𝒆𝒘 𝒀𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝑻𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒓 𝑽𝒊𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒂 𝑱𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒂 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒇𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒍𝒚, 𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒆 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒇 "𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆."   Janie Adams has been a single parent to her nephew since he was a baby. Fifteen years later, she’s finally found out who his father might be, so the two of them travel across the country to find him. She’d do anything for this kid. But when they arrive in the small town of Wishing River, Montana, and Janie finally meets the ruggedly handsome cowboy she’d been told had abandoned his son, his shocked response changes everything.   Aiden Rivers can’t dispute this is his kid when he sees his own features staring back at him, but he had no idea Janie’s sister was pregnant when she left him. He didn’t even know she had a sister—clearly they’d all been lied to. Now he has fifteen years of fatherhood to make up for and no idea how to be a dad. This was never in his plans.   Janie sticks around to help him ease into parenting, everything from showing him how to lure a sulky kid out of his bedroom to keeping up with the latest teen-speak. Together, they surprisingly make a good team, this city girl and country boy. But when the past catches up with them, Aiden and Janie must decide what’s best for the boy who's connecting them, not only for each other…which could mean splitting them apart.

 My thoughts:

Wishing for a Cowboy is the third book in the Wishing River series.  I have read the first two books and enjoyed them.  I was a bit disappointed because I was hoping this book would be Hope and Dean's story.  But I guess I will have to wait for the next book.  This one involves Aiden and Janie.

Out of the three books I have read, this one was not my favorite. However, I still enjoyed it. I'm not usually a fan of the hidden baby trope, but I didn't mind this one too much. I did enjoy watching Aiden get closer to his son and realize that he could be and do better than his own father had done.  The romance was sweet and I was rooting for the couple.  In all, this was a sweeet addition to the series.

About Victoria James:

Victoria James is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of contemporary romance.   Victoria always knew she wanted to be a writer and in grade five, she penned her first story, bound it (with staples and a cardboard cover) and did all the illustrations herself. Luckily, this book will never see the light of day again.   In high school she fell in love with historical romance and then contemporary romance. After graduating University with an English Literature degree, Victoria pursued a degree in Interior Design and then opened her own business. After her first child, Victoria knew it was time to fulfill her dream of writing romantic fiction.   Victoria is a hopeless romantic who is living her dream, penning happily-ever-after's for her characters in between managing kids and the family business. Writing on a laptop in the middle of the country in a rambling old Victorian house would be ideal, but she's quite content living in suburbia with her husband, their two young children, and very bad cat.   Sign up for Victoria's Newsletter to stay up to date on upcoming releases and exclusive giveaways, follow her blog for daily antics and insight into her daily life, and get to know her on twitter and Facebook.
