In Rock King, Shane is on top of the world fame-wise, but he holds a deep guilt for something that happened years ago. He is also an addict and needs help staying on the straight and narrow while he is on tour. Delaney seems like the perfect "fake girlfriend". Delaney holds some secrets herself.
For the most part, I liked the story. I just didn't love it. I enjoyed Delaney the most out of the two MCs. Shane was kind of an ass throughout the whole book. I had a hard time warming up to their instant attraction. My biggest issue with the story was the way Shane was dealing with his addictions. Having his manager hire a "girlfriend" to keep him from his many vices while on tour was just not realistic. The man really needed some rehab and counseling to help work on them. Especially in 2018 when most fans wouldn't blink an eye at hearing their favorite star had an abuse problem and was seeking help. It's not uncommon and wouldn't risk his career. In the notes after the book, the author acknowledges this is an unusual method, but it worked for the book. I'm not sure it really worked for me enough to believe these wouldn't be an issue later on down the line in their relationship. Despite this issue, it's a book worth giving a shot. I look forward to reading Piper's story next.
