Blog Tour: Review of Unforgiven by Jay Crownover

Author: Jay Crownover
Publisher: Forever
Publication Date: February 2020

Hill Gamble is a model lawman: cool and collected, with a confident swagger to boot. Too bad all that Texas charm hasn't gotten him anywhere in his personal life, especially since the only girl he ever loved has always been off-limits. But then Hill is assigned to investigate her father's mysterious death, and he's forced back to the town--and the woman--he left behind.

When Hill left Loveless, he broke Kody Lawton's already battered heart. And now that he's working on her father's case, avoiding him is impossible. She can handle Hill and her unwanted feelings--until he puts his life on the line to protect her. Suddenly, Kody realizes that Hill could be taken away from her...for good.

Unforgiven is the follow-up to Justified from the Loveless, Texas series.  This is Kody and Hill's story.  The last book ended on kind of a cliffhanger with some bad news for the Lawton siblings.  Hill is the Texas Ranger in charge of solving their father's murder.  Hill is a long time friend of the Lawton's.  The problem is Kody and Hill have a rocky past.

I devoured this book.  I was hooked right into Kody and Hill's story.  I will warn you the prologue is so sad and gut wrenching.  But it is necessary to give the reader a good background into what happened between Kody and Hill to bring them to this point.  I loved them together. and was rooting for them to finally figure things out. The best part of this book, besides the romance, was the relationship between Kody and her brothers.  There is a scene with the three of them toward the end that just gave me such warm feelings and a sense of hope for them.

The mystery was really good.  Even though it wasn't completely resolved in the end, I still enjoyed it.  There were a bunch of surprises and I can't wait to see how it all comes together.  I will say that I need the next book very soon!  That ending.....can you say cliffhanger?  I highly recommend this one as well as the series.
