Skye Warren
Publication date: July 7th 2020
Genres: Adult, Romance
I’m on my way to meet my birth parents when it happens. A white van. A dark hood. Every woman’s worst nightmare. Now I’m trapped in an abandoned building. The man who took me says I won’t be hurt. The man in the cell next to me says that’s a lie. I’ll fight with every ounce of strength, but there are secrets in these walls. I’ll need every single one of them to survive.

DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH is a new dark romance from New York Times bestselling author Skye Warren. Finding yourself has never been so dangerous…

My thoughts:

I will start by saying that I encourage you to read the short story prequel,  Hidden Gem, before you read this one.  I ended up reading it after.  Had I read it first, I think I would have understood the relationship between Elijah and Holly a little bit more.  That being said, I did like this one.  I haven't read a lot of dark romances, so I'm still new to the genre. This is definitely not a "happy" romance.  Any reader should go into it knowing that there is a lot of angry sex.  But it kind of makes sense to the story. The book ends on a cliffhanger, so I do want to read the next book to find out what happens to these characters.  I also want to know more about Elijah's siblings.    If you are a fan of this genre, I do recommend it.
